Disasters, Crises and Social Resilience

Believing that disasters should be handled within the framework of a social phenomenon beyond the physical, Kafademi is involved in projects that approach disaster management processes from a social scientific perspective. Our cooperative is involved in studies on multi-hazard scenarios, community-based preparedness strategies and increasing institutional resilience. Our projects analyze the impacts of disasters on different social groups and develop holistic policy recommendations that take into account the needs of particularly vulnerable communities.

Preparedness for health emergencies, social use of decision support systems and social aspects of information management systems are also among Kafademi‘s areas of work. Cooperative members work in collaboration with local governments, NGOs and public institutions to produce social innovations for building disaster-resilient societies.
